I have a college degree and want to become a high school art teacher. What should I do now?

Adam B. asked:

I have a BS in Multimedia and Graphic design with 2+ years work experience. I think I would be more satisfied teaching and mentoring high school art students. Since I already have a college degree, what could I do now to get into that field?

This depends on where you live. Check with the department of education, or the education faculty at the university/college where you obtained your degree. You should be able to complete the education courses within a year, and that will qualify you to teach. In some places, you may be able to teach just with the credentials you now have, and make up the missing ones at summer school. That’s one advantage to being a teacher - you can use summer vacations to refresh, renew and revitalize your major, or even change majors.
