Depending on what you plan on going to technical school for, these degrees can SOMETIMES be more lucrative than a bachelor's degree. However, on average, persons with bachelors degrees make more money than those with technical school degrees. There are many factors that make it very difficult to compare them.

Whatever field you are interested in, you should take a careful look at the future job prospects in that field to determine whether it is worth the cost (and whether you should go to a state university vs. private, etc). For example, paying private school tuition when you aspire to be a High School math teacher does not make much economic sense, as State Universities are for the most part, much cheaper, and the unionized salaries of teachers make where you got your degree irrelevant.

Your best bet is to seriously think about what type of job you want AFTER you finish your degree, and then tailor your degree and courses to align with that.

It depends on what you study - I have no idea what kind of job you get with criminal justice degree. Technical school graduates can certainly make a decent living and you can start earning sooner..
